An interview with Annie Alowa
"I Will
Fight Until I Melt," a film featuring a powerful and
eloquent interview of elder Anie Alowa, from the Yu'pik
village of Savoonga on Saint Lawrence Island. Annie worked
to raise awareness and action about the environmental and
health effects of a military toxic site on Saint Lawrence
Island at Northeast Cape. Annie died of cancer in February.
She attributed her cancer, as well as the cancers of others
who live on Saint Lawrence Island, to the military poisoning
of NE Cape. She leaves an important message to those
accountable for the military site as well as for those of us
involved in environmental and social justice issues.
