What’s the process?

First, we gather signatures. At least 31,451 registered voters must sign a petition asking that the issue be placed on the ballot. (That means we must really collect over 40,000 signatures, to allow for errors.) In addition, a new condition requires that signatures must come from voters in at least 30 of Alaska’s 40 House districts, and must equal at least 7% of those who voted in that district in the last general election.

We have up to one year to collect signatures. If we can collect enough signatures by January 9, 2005, however, the issue will appear on the ballot for the General election in November 2006. If not, the issue will appear on the Primary election ballot in August 2008.

The second part of the process is the ballot measure campaign. We will educate and activate voters from across the state to vote yes to protect kids from the harmful effects of pesticides.
