Tell Congress: Protect our health. Don’t weaken TSCA!
Congress could begin rolling back our nation’s chemical safety law as early as this month, and Alaskans have too much at stake to stay silent.
From the fish we depend on and the water we drink to the products we bring into our homes, every Alaskan deserves protection from toxic chemicals. But chemical industry lobbyists are urging Congress to weaken the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), our nation’s primary law for regulating harmful chemicals.
The 2016 updates to TSCA gave the EPA stronger authority to ban dangerous chemicals like asbestos, TCE, and methylene chloride, and to review new chemicals before they reach the market.
The proposals now before Congress would weaken those protections by making it easier for dangerous chemicals to stay on the market, harder to ban chemicals linked to cancer, infertility, impaired brain development, and Parkinson’s disease, and more difficult for states like Alaska to protect their communities from toxic exposures.
Alaska’s people, waters, wildlife, and subsistence traditions deserve strong protections not weaker ones.
Contact your members of Congress today and urge them to oppose any effort to roll back our nation’s chemical safety law.

Current proposals being pushed by the chemical industry would dramatically weaken our nation’s chemical safety law—making it easier for dangerous chemicals to enter the market and harder for EPA and states to protect people from toxic chemicals linked to cancer, Parkinson’s disease, impaired brain development, and other serious health harms.
In some cases, these proposals would provide fewer safeguards than Americans had more than 50 years ago.
The American people need stronger protections from toxic chemicals—not weaker ones. Please oppose any legislation that rolls back TSCA’s health protections and stand up for the health of our families, workers, and communities.
