Alaska Community Action on Toxics is hosting another Breast Cancer Lecture Series, “Nursing the Earth Back to Health; Preventing Breast Cancer at the Individual, Community, and Institutional Level.” Nurses and community health aides are vital for protecting our people from the risks of chemical contaminants and their effects on health and the environment.

The series will feature highly respected nurses and influential leaders in their field: Katie Huffling, RN, MS CNM, Executive Director of the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments and Catherine Dodd PhD, RN, FAAN, CEBS (HEALTH). Catherine  served as Region IX Director of the Department of Health and Human Services under President Clinton and was also District Chief of Staff to Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi.

Learn what you can do to reduce exposures to harmful chemicals in Alaska and the risks of breast cancer! This event is free and open to the public.

The lecture will be held at Alaska Pacific University Atwood Center, Rasmuson Hall (4101 University Drive) on May 10 at 6:30 pm. You can also meet the speakers for a short reception before the lecture. Refreshments will be provided.Find more info on our Facebook event here.
