Alaska Community Action on Toxics (ACAT) is an environmental health and justice research and advocacy organization. We seek a full-time Office Manager who will keep our office running smoothly and efficiently while maintaining a positive atmosphere for our staff, volunteers, visitors, and community members.

The Office Manager plays a critical role in supporting ACAT’s team and helping us achieve our mission, which states, “We believe everyone has a right to clean air, clean water, and toxic-free food. Driven by a core belief in environmental justice, ACAT empowers communities to eliminate exposure to toxics through collaborative research, shared science, education, organizing, and advocacy.”


The Office Manager must be able to work independently and take initiative to get things done. The person will be responsible for all aspects of office administration including: human resources; light bookkeeping; coordinating receivables/payables; timesheets; and payroll; and working closely with our bookkeeper. Other duties include: managing insurance policies and tracking renewals, working closely with our IT contractor to manage office equipment and systems, purchasing office supplies, and grants management.

The Office Manager reports to the Executive Director.


  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in a relevant field (preferred) or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years relevant work experience, preferably with a nonprofit organization
  • Excellent organizational skills, follow through, and attention to detail
  • Problem solver who is able to see the big picture
  • Experience in foundation and federal grant management is highly valued

ACAT’s staff and governing board are ethnically and culturally diverse with varying lifestyles. The Office Manager will join a staff of nine in the Anchorage office and four Yupik community health researchers living on Sivuqaq (also known as St. Lawrence Island). The Office Manager must be committed to and passionate about ACAT’s mission.

Pay range is $21.00 to $25.00 per hour DOE.
