State of the Evidence: The Connection Between Breast Cancer and the Environment

June 1, 2011 @ 10:00am (AKDT)

State of the Evidence: The Connection Between Breast Cancer and the Environment was recorded 6/1/11 and hosted by ACAT’s Alaska Collaborative on Health and the Environment (CHE-AK). Today, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. Many of these women do not fit into a high-risk profile based on known breast cancer risk factors. This means that other factors – perhaps environmental– are at work.

Special guest Jeanne Rizzo will discuss the sixth edition of the landmark science report, State of the Evidence: The Connection between Breast Cancer and the Environment which summarizes and evaluates the scientific evidence linking exposures to chemicals and radiation in our everyday environments to increased breast cancer risk. She will also present findings from a new study by the Breast Cancer Fund and Silent Spring Institute on bisphenol-A (BPA) in food packaging and talk about ways you can be involved in breast cancer prevention.
