The Spenard Community Garden is located adjacent to Lutheran Social Services food pantry at 1303 West 33rd Ave. The Garden is a collaboration between LSS staff and garden volunteers, and it is enjoyed by many of the 400 food pantry clients who visit every week. The Garden is a place to relax, harvest fresh food and medicine, and connect with nature and each other.
Yarducopia's contribution to the space is to help coordinator garden volunteers to maintain the garden, to welcome people into the space, help visitors harvest, and stock our Share Table with fresh produce from this and other Yarducopia gardens.
Spenard Community Garden is part of the Alaska Garden program, hosting a variety of native perennial plants and showcasing some of the abudance of our region.
The garden is open to the public, so come enjoy. If you want to contribute, volunteer, or learn more, reach out to Nick at 717 4392 or [email protected], or visit the Spenard Community Garden facebook page.
